Scientists Condemn EPA Effort to Downplay Climate Change Risks, Urge Public to “See the Evidence All Around”

With President Donald Trump’s administration moving to turn back a cornerstone finding regarding climate change as a threat to human health and welfare, scientists say they can look no further than Mother Nature to see the influence global warming has and how it increases every year.

New research and ever more extreme weather provide further support against climate change’s effects on people and the planet, independent of peer-reviewed studies. “The Trump administration had a comment, and we challenged them to defend their call for unscientific reasoning upon our hearts,” said 11 independent scientists, experts in health and climate, who spoke to the Associated Press after the news broke Wednesday.

“There is no alternate world where climate change can ever undermine our public health purposes,” stated Brown university climate scientist Kim Cobb. “And we’re living with real physics against real physiology and biology, and with the limits of our currently existing infrastructure to protect us against the intensifying climate-driven extremes.”
